Renaissance Villa has a long and varied history, but the common thread has always been to provide expert care and real compassion to each and every resident. Our community was originally founded in the early 1950’s as Rockdale Nursing Home. In the mid-1970’s, Southwestern Medical Centers purchased Rockdale Nursing home and continued to provide the same quality care while maintaining the focus on skilled nursing. In 1988, The Rockdale Nursing home was closed and then reopened in 1989, a completely renovated community with a new name, The Arboretum. The Arboretum not only had new residential and office space, the focus of care changed as well. The Arboretum was a free-standing community strictly dedicated to serving those with the Alzheimer’s Disease. With this dedicated focus, residents and their families benefited then, as they do today, from a highly trained staff and specialized care.
In 1997, Care Inn Properties, Inc. purchased the community and renamed it Renaissance Villa. The focus on caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease was maintained and new extensive training for employees in Alzheimer’s care was enacted.
In 2005, Care Inn Properties, Inc. changed its name to Touchstone Communities. So now, Renaissance Villa, one of only a few free-standing communities in Texas dedicated to serving only those with Alzheimer’s Disease, is now also known as a Touchstone Community.
